Join us on this incredible road adventure that crosses the northern stretches of Utah. You will have the opportunity to see magnificent country that varies from the vast western desert to mountainous forest that shelter wild moose and elk to ancient oil shale and dinosaur beds. This tour will take you from Golden Spike National Historic Mounument where the railways of this nation were joined in 1869 across northern Utah to Dinosaur National Monument where you will see the fossilized remains of the ancient beasts. Along the way you will travel along well paved rural roads that are barely on the map and seldom traveled. You will experience breath taking vistas and views of the mountains and fertile valleys. Travel alongside farms and through ranches and summer range passing through small villages and hamlets that are off the beaten track.
You will be awed by the diversity and remoteness of most of your travels. This fully supported tour will allow you to travel at your own pace with SAG vehicles checking on your safety and progress frequently. This expedition is meant to be a camping adventure. For those that wish the comforts of a real bed at night there are motels and B&B’s to choose from each night. Each day your gear will be transported to our next camp site by our friendly and professional staff, where you will join your fellow riders for a sumptuous dinner, to share tales and marvel at the unique beauty of your day’s ride. If you are in need of camping equipment, Bike2Bike can supply you with tents, mattresses, & sleeping bags for a nominal fee.
Equipment - Weather in the West is extremely unpredictable, one of our favorite comments regarding spring and early summer weather is “if you don’t like the weather, wait 20 minutes and it will change” Due to the time of year and the varied altitudes we will be traveling in it is necessary to pack accordingly. It is not uncommon to have near freezing temperatures during the nights at altitude while the days can be well be into the 70 and 80′s, while lower altitudes can reach into the 90′s. It is normal to have 30 to 40 temperature swings between night and day. Because of these temperature swings it is best to be prepared. Bring a warm jacket, leggins or tights, a skull cap, gloves, a rain jacket, and arms. While we usually carry a supply of 700 mm and 650 mm tires and tubes, if your bike requires a different size please bring some spares. There are few if any bike shops where we will be traveling. Please bring plenty of your favorite sun screen, you will be exposed to a great deal of sun and at altitudes where sun protection is necessary. This is a camping expedition so please remember your tent, sleeping bag, & mattress (we do have tents and air beds for rent). We will have power available to charge camera batteries, mattress pumps, phones and computers.
