The only restriction to where you can ride is along the course of the supported rides for that day.
Recreational Riding – Supported - There will be a different fully supported Full, Metric, and Half Century ride each day. There will be fully stocked rest stops about every 20 miles with a wide selection of snacks and drinks, rest rooms, and encouragement. In addition there will be a lunch stop where you can relax, enjoy the scenery, and stock up on some good food:
Petroglyph Century - Day 1 Depending on the distance you choose you will either head North or South through some very scenic towns and country. Everyone will eventually head north to a natural gap in the mountains that has been a natural passage way for thousands of years fo wildlife and native Americans. You will see evidence of ancient man in the hundreds of petroglyphs on display on the walls of the Gap. This area is a natural nesting area for Hawks and Eagles too. You will then circle around through the towns of Parowan, Summit, & Enoch before heading back to GRUB Fest HQ. Depending on how fast you ride and the distance you choose there is a good chance that you will be passed by the peleton of the Road Racers who will follow the course of Metric Century. Please allow them to pass with no hindrance and under no circumstances try to join in with them.
Cedar Breaks Century – Day 2 This is a ride that will challenge you for the most scenic ride you have ever ridden as well as one of the toughest. You will head North to Parawon and then continue to up to Brian Head and Cedar Breaks National Monument, at an elevation of over 10,000 feet. Returning you will need to exercise caution as you descend through some of the most awesome scenery around. You will complete your ride through the flat lands surrounding Cedar City.
Iron Mountain Century – Day 3 Few people realize that one of the largest Iron deposits in the country exists in Iron County. Not only is it still active a few years ago a major new vein was discovered. With the exception of one hill this is a relatively flat ride to finish up your cycling festival. You will head West from Cedar City on an out-n-back to the town of New Castle and the villages of Beryl and Modena which are seldom visited, almost to Nevada before returning. You will visit a part of Utah that is seldom seen any more.
4 Stage Road Race - This USA Cycling 4 stage race will allow you to test your fitness, ability, and strategy on some challenging roads as well earn some points toward the end of the racing season:
Stage 1 70 mile Road Race - Saturday’s course will follow much of the Petrolyph Century route and will challenge your ability as well as your strategic planning.
Stage 2 Individual Time Trial - Sunday’s AM course is quite flat and will truly test you against the clock.
Stage 3 Criterium - Sunday’ PM course will be through the streets of Cedar City around the SUU campus and will give you the challenge you need to excell.
Stage 4 70 mile Road Race - Monday’s course will test your stamina on an out-n-back course over Iron Mountain and along some incredibly scenic roads as you struggle to finish the weekend strongly.
